Things that I think make travelling so much easier! I've put together a guide of both the obvious and not-so-obvious essentials to make your trip as smooth as possible!

LED Light-Up Mirror
Ever tried doing your makeup in a poorly lit hostel or apartment? It's a struggle we've all faced. Sometimes, there's not even a decent mirror near a plug socket for your hair routine. Enter the LED light-up mirror - my new lifesaver. I recently had a power outage in Marbella, and that little light on my mirror came to the rescue. It helped me pack and shower when the regular lights were out. Now, this mirror is a non-negotiable part of my travel essentials. Trust me, it's a game-changer!
Silk Pillowcase
Boost your sleep experience with a silk pillowcase – it's not just about the luxury; it brings practical benefits too. Lets be real, you never really know how clean that hotel room, apartment, or hostel is. A silk pillowcase ensures you won't be cohabiting with any unexpected germs. Plus, the magic of silk reduces hair friction, saving you from morning tangles. Personally, it helps me relax and sleep better without overthinking cleanliness concerns. After a day of exploration, it's the ultimate indulgence for a restful night's sleep.
Extra Makeup/Toiletry Pouch
I usually travel with just hand luggage, and it can be quite frustrating when you arrive at your destination only to find your skincare mixed in with your makeup and liquids separated from your cosmetics. That's why I always bring an additional makeup bag to organize things effectively once I reach my destination. It makes it so much easier to navigate the bathroom in the evening or morning, with everything together.
Portable Charger
In a tech-driven world, a portable charger is a total game-changer. Ensure your devices stay charged, whether you're navigating unfamiliar streets using your phone or capturing breathtaking moments with your camera. The ability to charge on the go guarantees you're never disconnected. Even at bedtime – if your bed isn't near a plug socket and, like me, you prefer keeping your phone close in case anything happens, this allows you to keep your phone nearby while you sleep.
Earplugs and an Eyemask
Nothing is more frustrating than being unable to sleep while travelling. The lack of sleep can significantly impact your ability to fully enjoy your trip. In the midst of the chaos of the city or when seeking some peace on a bustling plane, earplugs and an eye mask provide a simple and effective solution. Block out bothersome noise and create your personal oasis of tranquillity, ensuring you can rest undisturbed. Whether it's dealing with someone's snoring or combating excessive brightness, these essentials have got you covered. A good night's sleep is essential for making the most of your travel adventures.
First Aid Kit/Medicines
A must-pack for any trip is a compact first aid kit – a travel essential you shouldn't overlook. Fill it with vital medications, band-aids, and any required prescription drugs; it's a small investment in your overall well-being. This ensures you're well-equipped to handle minor health concerns, providing a safety net for your journey. Personally, my kit includes Imodium, paracetamol, ibuprofen, Piriton, mosquito bite cream, and Compeed blister plasters – because you never know when they might prove useful. It's wise not to solely rely on pharmacies abroad, as they could be closed, distant, or lack the familiar items we can readily access in the UK.
Breakfast Snacks
Don't underestimate the significance of the most important meal, especially when you're on the move. Equip yourself with a variety of nutritious breakfast snacks like granola bars, nuts, or dried fruits. Whether you're someone who occasionally skips breakfast, finds yourself pressed for time during hotel breakfast hours, or just doesn't resonate with the menu choices, having something readily available in your bag is a smart move – because, let's face it, you never know what the day may throw at you. I always keep some packets of something like Belvita Minis, or Graze Flapjacks in my bag which have been useful.
Packing Cubes
Say goodbye to the chaotic rummaging through your suitcase. Packing cubes are a traveller's best friend, providing a systematic approach to organizing clothes and accessories. Easily locate what you need without creating a dishevelled mess in your luggage. I pack with organisation and take note of what's in each cube. Specifically, I use compressible ones to max out space and bring along everything I need.
